Aloha!

Yesterday we woke up at 0530 and packed up the car and sleepy kids and made our way to Grandma Duck and Papa Razi's house to catch a ride to LAX. Once we got there, Andrew threw up ( did I mention he threw up twice the day before as well?). Thankfully that was the end of the throw up drama. I think he may have been excited/carsick/anxious. He understood that we were going on an airplane ride up in the sky. That is a pretty big concept for a 2 1/2 year old. We made it through everything with no line and friendly people. I think people were extra nice to us because we are traveling with the 2 most beautiful children on the planet (not biased I promise). We loaded up on the airplane and found that we were seated in the bulkhead seats so we had more than enough room for our family and Paul's long legs. Allison sat comfortably in the snuggli on my lap and Andrew sat in his big boy chair. Take off made Andrew go crazy. I don't know what it was but he became a beast! Whining, yelling and crying. Once we were in the air, his whole mood changed and he was happy and silly again. We ate lunch and then both kids fell asleep. Allison slept in Paul's arms and Andrew fell asleep on me. They both slept for over 2 hours, which made our 5 hour and 15 minute flight much more enjoyable. Paul even got to watch the in flight movie. Once they woke up we whipped out Andrew and Allison's DVD player and Andrew watched Toy Story while he wore his Buzz Lightyear PJs. Allison was a little doll and played on our laps the rest of the way. I am proud to say that Andrew had no accidents the entire time and he told us each time when he had to go "daddy peepee". Once again when he change altitude, Andrew became a beast. Upon landing Andrew was whining, yelling, and crying. Once we touched down, he sad "look mommy, Andrew happy!" I don't get it, but at least it was only on take off and landing :) We finally made it to Maui! Andrew made conversation with all of our "neighbors" on the plane as we exited and he told them all about the "airplane going Maui". And once we got off the plane he even said "Aloha!" Then he asked if we could "go Disneyland" and I said there is no Disneyland there and he replied with "oh crap". hmmm where did he learn that from??
After a loooong time, Paul finally pulled up with our rental car and we squeezed 2 crying kids into their car seats and our luggage only to drive to Safeway to buy groceries and then shoved the bags of groceries all around us. We made it to the beautiful Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas where we had 10 condos to choose from. We chose the free upgrade to the loft style with a balcony overlooking one of the pools. The condo is gorgeous and brand newly updated with 2 bathrooms and a gorgeous view.
The first thing we did was make Andrew's much requested wish come true... we went swimming. They have a shallow toddler pool which is 1.5 feet deep and warm. We had the whole pool to ourselves and it was heavenly. We made our way to the other pool which is attached to the little kid pool and there is a bridge that goes over the pool that has a little waterfall underneath and we brought the kids under the waterfall which Andrew thought was the coolest thing ever!!! After swimming we came "home" took showers, had pizza and watched TV and went to bed. We decided to have the kids sleep upstairs with us. Andrew is basically in a little spot by the closet, but he choose to sleep in the closet AKA"fort" and Allison's crib blocks him in so he can't get up and fall down the stairs. His sleeping space is bigger than his bed at home and he seems to like it. They both cried for 5 minutes and the realized they were beyond exhausted and fell asleep. Paul and I stayed downstairs and not too much longer we went to bed as well.
