Halloween Fun

We started off our Halloween celebrations with our annual trip to Pa's Pumpkin Patch. The kids enjoyed a few rides and taking silly pictures. We ended the night at the Crab Pot across the street. There are dinners that are very memorable for different reasons, this dinner was memorable because the kids were so well behaved and happy. They were polite, ate all of their dinner and made us laugh. We had a beautiful table on the indoor patio and watched a gorgeous sunset over the ocean. It was a perfect dinner.

Halloween at preschool was a great day. Allison had a ball playing with all the big kids and Andrew truly believed he was Optimus Prime. Each kid had their 5 seconds of fame when they got to stand up on the little "stage" and tell their friends and the parents who they dressed up as for Halloween. When Andrew stood up there he said "I am Optimus Prime and I kill the bad guys!" I quickly said in my best mom voice "Andrew!" and he corrected himself and said, "I am Optimus Prime and I get the bad guys". What am I going to do with this kid, I have no idea where he learns this from!

Allison stood up on the "stage" when all the big kids were all done and showed off her costume while I took pictures. I can't believe I wore that super girl costume when I was a little girl! She looked so darn cute!

We spent a whole Saturday at this great pumpkin patch in Irvine. They had everything from a petting zoo, corn maze, carnival games, a hay ride and of course food. We had fun running around the corn maze. Andrew increased the level of excitement by acting lost and running frantically around trying to find our way to the center, and of course Allison was running right along with him. We took the hayride to another section of the farm and fed the farm animals and ourselves. We had a delicious barbecued corn on the cob and a shaved ice. It was a warm day and walking around pregnant was a bit of a challenge, but I managed.

Our Halloween fun continued as we carved pumpkins. Both kids were so into this project, I wasn't sure if it would hold their attention, but they could have done this all day. They loved to pull the seeds out and squish it between their fingers. Paul had a blast as well. He is such a great daddy and helped both of them along the way and was so patient. Our Jack O'lanterns turned out great!

Halloween night, we had a yummy dinner of Jack O'lantern quesaillas with Mike, Becky, Mitch and Jackie. To get in the spirit, we decided to dress up the baby by painted my tummy like a pumpkin. Andrew and Allison loved that their little sister joined in with all the fun. After a fun special dinner we all went Trick or Treating around the neighborhood. We went to too many houses and got too much candy. The kids had a blast running (literally) from house to house yelling trick-or-treat! A good time was had by all.

Final Score: Boys 1 Girls 2

We decided to be a little creative to find out the sex of our baby. We had the ultrasound tech write down the sex of the baby and put it in a sealed envelope, and then we took the envelope to a bakery and had them bake cupcakes with either pink or blue filling. We told a little white lie to both grandparents that we needed them to babysit but wanted to do lunch first at PF Changs. They all showed up and were surprised the other set of grandparents was there. I managed to sneak in and decorate our table with yellow roses and balloons. When Paul walked in with Andrew, Allison and all 4 grand parents everyone was surprised and was wondering what the occasion was. When they all sat down, I told them that we are going to find out the sex of our baby! It was like a surprise party for the grandparents (and Andrew and Allison, I knew if I told them, they wouldn't be able to keep a secret). We managed to make it through lunch without going too crazy wondering what color filling was going to be in the cupcakes. We all went around the table saying what we thought the baby was going to be. Everyone guessed a boy, except Paul and I, we guessed a girl. Once lunch was done, the waitress brought over the cupcakes that we brought in. We all bit into the cupcakes at the same time and saw... PINK! I shouted "we're having a girl!" Andrew and Allison were so excited. We had everyone in the restaurant cheering for us. It was truly a memorable day. Now we have to think of little girl names!

At the end of our meal, they brought us of course forune cookies, grabbed one at random and this is what I read. HOW CRAZY!!!!!!
