We woke up early to make our pecan pie. It was a cold morning and the warm oven made our kitchen nice and toasty as we ate breakfast. Once the pie was done. I opened the window and put the pie in front of the breezy window. I remember when I was a little girl, Minnie Mouse would let her pies cool on her windowsill. I decided to do the same.
My parents came over to my house as well as Grandma Madeline, to spend the day with us cooking and playing. My dad made the gravy as usual.
Andrew peaking in to see if the turkey is done. He was a big helper in the kitchen.
I was proud of my table. I felt like such an adult putting my china on the new beautiful table. All of the candles stayed lit during dinner as we went around and said what we were thankful for.
I accidentally cooked my turkey upside down. It made for a good laugh. BUT I found out later that this is the new way to cook turkeys because all of the juices drip down into the breast and it is extra moist this way. It was probably the best turkey I have ever made. Super moist and the stuffing was extra delicious with dried cranberries, apples and walnuts. mmm mmm good!
My favorite part of the day was showing my grandma the Ipad. She was amazed at all of the thing we could do and how well Andrew and Allison navigated through the apps. We had fun playing with the camera and taking pictures of Grams.
My parents stayed late and we watched Brave. Grams fell asleep, my mom and I talked on the couch and my dad laid on the floor with the kids. My mom decided to join them to steal some cuddles. I think this was my favorite Thanksgiving ever. It was just so peaceful, full of warm delicious food, family and happy kids. It was the perfect Thanksgiving.
